Hi,
Please, allow me to write in English, because my German skill is limited.

I have just moved to Linz, and on Saturday I saw on the TV about the AFL and the try-outs that happened on Friday.

I am writting because I love Football, and I have been playing it since 1999, first in the USA and then in Brazil, and I would like to know if there is anyway I can help. I am not really sure about how the AFL works, but maybe, I could even train with you, if it is possible.

A bit about myself:

– 25 years old, 130 kg, 198cm.
– 100m dash: around 15s
– Positions: DE/DT, OG/OT, TE

Thank you very much for your attention

Best regards

I was born in Brazil in 1982 and lived there until 1999, when I had the chance to move to Columbiana, Ohio, through the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program. Columbiana is a small village about 2hrs from Cleveland, but they have a very good Football Program, in which I had the chance to play for the Columbiana Clippers.

I always loved American Football, even though it was not well known in Brazil, since our big sport is soccer. But soccer is played by small, fast guys, and in school, I was always the last player to be called to play, when they were picking the teams.

Then, in 2000 I had to move back to Brazil but I could not live without football, so I found some other guys who also loved football, and we started a team, called Brownspiders, in the city of Curitiba (southern Brazil), where this typicall brown recluse spider is found.

The Brownspiders started as just a couple of friends who played American Football without equipments every weekend, and now, we have about 35 players, well equiped, but without any sponsors yet.

I arrived in Linz on the 24th of March, to work for Robert Bosch GmbH, and saw about the AFL on TV. I immediately got into the internet and found the Steelsharks, and went to my first practice with them on April 1st. I felt really welcome, and already part of the family. I was also very impressed of the high quality Football that they play, with very good technique and experienced coaches.

I am very pleased to have this chance of being part of the Steelsharks football program, and I’m sure I will learn a lot with them.

I am also loving Linz, but since this is my first time in Europe, I am still adpating my self to it, but without any complaints.

Best regards!

José
