This past weekend the Ducks took care of business soundly defeating the California Golden Bears 44-28. After spotting Cal 10 points the Ducks scored 31 unanswered. The Oregon offense had a record setting day, gaining 777 yards from scrimmage. Of those yards, 477 came on the ground. RB ‘Rolls’ Royce Freeman, the Ducks’ workhorse, gained 180 yards on 29 carries. Once again QB Vernon Adams played well, throwing 4 TDs, but also two costly interceptions in the end zone. Oregon seems to be getting its swagger back. Best of all was the play of the offensive line, opening up holes a truck could drive through and giving Adams a lot of time to throw.
This weekend will be different. The Oregon Ducks travel to Palo Alto California to play #7 Stanford Cardinal (fear the tree). Stanford is a hard nosed smash mouth team that prides itself on its line play. Lead by senior QB Kevin Hogan and sophomore RB Christian McCaffrey, the Stanford offense is very balanced and very difficult to stop. The Oregon defense will need to be at their best.
Here are two videos from the Oregon California game. The first is a quick summary. The second is much longer, with Oregon highlights.

At the 2:44 mark RB Royce Freeman makes a great cut in traffic. At both the 8:10 and 10:29 marks Oregon’s fourth-string RB Brooks-James shows off his ability. All four Duck running-backs had a great day.

P.S. For those who enjoy motivational football videos, here’s another.

Mike Resch reporting from Eugene Oregon where it never rains, it only pours touchdowns.
