John Fox nicht mehr Head Coach der Denver Broncos

Bei einem Gespräch zwischen Broncos CEO John Elway und John Fox über die abgelaufene Saison und die künftigen Ziele der Franchise, sei man gemeinsam zur Überzeugung gelangt, dass der Zeitpunkt für eine Trennung gekommen sei. Am Sonntag bekräftigten beide noch, dass man zusammen weiter machen wolle.
Fox verlässt die Broncos mit einem 46-18 Record. Das ist der zweitbeste drittbeste Record in der NFL seit 2011 hinter Bill Belichicks New England Patriots mit 49-15 und Mike McCarthys Packers mit 46-17-1. In der Aussendung der Broncos wird der negative Post Season Record (3-4) von Fox extra ausgelobt. Ein Hinweis darauf, woher der Wind wehen könnte. In Denver zählt offenbar nur noch die dritte Lombardi-Trophy.
Gleichzeitig wurde dem Coaching Staff, vorneweg den Koordinatoren Adam Gase (Offense) und Jack Del Rio (Defense) es frei gestellt sich um neue Jobs umzusehen, da man dem Nachfolger freie Hand bei der Personalauswahl geben wird. Da der Staff zum einen extrem erfolgreich war, auf der anderen Seite etliche Head Coaching Positionen noch zu haben sind, könnte es sein, dass die Denver Broncos als erstes Team bei einem Wechsel des Staffs mit Fox, Gase und Del Rio gleich drei neue Head Coaches bei anderen Klubs "produzieren". Die San Francisco 49ers und auch die Oakland Raiders sollen bereits ihr Interesse bekundet haben.
Was macht Peyton Manning?
Die Trennung könnte auch als Hinweis auf die Zukunft Peyton Mannings sein. Ob sich Manning einen neuen Head Coach antut, das gilt als fraglich. Eventuell weiss Elway hier schon mehr als die Öffentlichkeit. Heute wurde (nicht aus dem Manning/Denver Umfeld) bekannt, dass Manning seit dem Spiel gegen San Diego mit einem gerissen Quadriceps-Muskel spielte. Manning selbst wollte nach der bitteren Niederlage gegen die Indianapolis Colts keine Stellungnahme zu seiner sportlichen Zukunft abgeben.

The Broncos announced Monday that John Fox and the team had agreed on a mutual decision to part ways.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos and Head Coach John Fox have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced Monday.
Fox, the 14th head coach in Broncos franchise history, and the team parted ways after a loss in the Broncos‘ opening playoff game on Sunday. He finished his tenure in Denver with four consecutive division titles on a 46-18 regular-season record with a 49-22 overall record with the Broncos.

"John Fox and I met for more than an hour on Monday afternoon to discuss the 2014 season and our goals for the future. During our open and candid conversation, it became clear that it was best for both the Denver Broncos and Coach Fox to move on and make this change.
"On behalf of the Broncos, I sincerely thank John for his many contributions during his four seasons as head coach. He helped establish a positive, winning culture for this team and deserves a lot of credit for the Broncos‘ turnaround.
"While we have made significant progress under Coach Fox, there is still work to be done. I believe this change at the head coaching position will be in the best interest of our long-term goal, which from day one has been to win World Championships.
"Our organization is fully dedicated to reaching Pat Bowlen’s high standards for his team as we begin the process of finding the next head coach to lead the Denver Broncos."

"I had a productive visit with John Elway this afternoon in which we were both very honest about our time together and how to best move forward. After this discussion, John and I mutually agreed that the timing was right for this decision.
