CC: Danke, wir haben uns vor kurzem geeinigt. Am 20 Februar fliege ich rüber. Ich bin schon sehr aufgeregt und freue mich auf Österreich.
Ist es das erste Mal, dass Sie nach Europa kommen?
Ja, aber ich weiß im großen und ganzen was mich erwartet. Ich führte schon vor Jahren sehr lange Gespräche mit Shawn Olson und den Vikings und ich habe Bekannte, die in Europa Football spielen. Ich wäre damals schon nach Wien gekommen, aber dann bekam ich ein Angebot aus der Arena League 2.
Sie sind mit Giants-Quarterback Chris Gunn bekannt?
Ja, wir waren gemeinsam im Arena-Camp. Wir wurden danach zwar in zwei unterschiedliche Teams gedraftet, blieben aber in Kontakt.
Sie spielten bisher auf so viele Positionen: Tight End, Wide Receiver, Half Back, Linebacker. Wo wird man sie bei den Giants finden?
Man wird mich auf beiden Seiten des Balls sehen, mit Schwerpunkt auf die Defense. Ich habe mich in der Arena League, glaube ich zumindest, zu einem passablen Outside-Linebacker entwickelt mit ganz guten pass-rush-Qualitäten. Ich werde aber auch in der Offense aushelfen können, wenn man mich dort braucht.
Wie kamen Sie auf die Idee in Europa zu spielen?
Ganz ehrlich? Ich will nicht mehr indoor spielen und ich mochte die AFL2 nicht. Ich habe dann meine Kontakte zu Europa aktiviert und mich als Spieler angeboten. Es hat funktioniert wie man sieht und ich kann jetzt wieder outdoor spielen, was mir persönlich sehr wichtig war.
Die Arena Football League hat ihren Betrieb für 2009 eingestellt…
Ja, das ist schlimm. Ich weiß nicht, ob die AFL2 auch davon betroffen ist. Ich glaube, die wird gespielt. Für mich war aber nach der Saison so oder so klar, dass ich wieder unter freiem Himmel Football spielen möchte.

2003: Saw action at both wide receiver and tight end during season … finished the season ranked No. 3 on the team in receptions with 16 (for 192 yards) … started home contests vs. Southern Mississippi, Cincinnati, Army and Tulane … caught season-high four passes against South Carolina … was on receiving end of 24-yard TD pass in Blazers‘ loss at South Carolina … his 16 receptions were a career-high … had two receptions for a season-best 44 yards vs. Tulane … had 36-yard reception — longest of season — in game vs. Tulane.
