In Eugene Oregon, after three consecutive BCS bowl appearances, and a second year in row beginning the season ranked in the top five in the nation, the feeling is that the Ducks are “only getting started.”
This Saturday, the Oregon Ducks, ranked #5 in the AP Poll, kick-off the season against Arkansas State. The “fastest in the nation” Oregon offense has reloaded and is ready with new quarterback Marcus Mariota and veteran running backs Kennon Barner and DeAnthony Thomas (the Black Mamba). As for the Defense, it is expected to be the strongest of the Kelly era. If the season progresses as predicted the Ducks will be favored to win all their games until they meet the #1 ranked USC Trojans in Los Angeles on November 3rd. That game will show which team is the best in the west and will have huge national championship implications.
College Football fans will want to mark November 3rd on their calendar for that day, not only do the #5 Ducks play the #1 Trojans but also #2 Alabama plays #3 Louisiana State University (LSU).
It is no great secret that Oregon is currently one of the nations elite teams. Since 2000 the Ducks have finished seven seasons ranked among the top 13. That includes five top-10 and three top-five finishes. In the same time period the Ducks have won four outright Pac-10/Pac-12 league titles and a share of fifth one.
In the three seasons that Chip Kelly has been head coach of Oregon the Ducks have been on a rampage losing only six games. Only one defeat came against a team that didn’t finish in the nation’s top five (8-5 Stanford in 2009). Of the other five losses, two came against undefeated teams (Auburn beat Oregon in the 2010 national championship game, and in 2009, Boise State went 14-0). Another came against an LSU team who’s only lose was in the 2011 national championship game. One came against an 11-2 Ohio State team in the 2009 Rose Bowl. And the sixth defeat came last year against a USC  team that finished 11-2 (and is currently ranked #1).
Not only do the Ducks win, they look good while winning. The growing fan base, and a national following (and Austrian following), enjoy the trend-setting Ducks ever-changing uniforms and new color combinations. This year Oregon, in combination with Nike, have announced yet another set of new uniforms.
This new style was first previewed in last year’s Rose Bowl Game
